With every cable provider offering hundreds of channels and service packages, choosing one could be a daunting tasks. Yet, before obligating yourself to a subscription contract, do this first.
Read and compare customer reviews
There are numerous ways to fact check a company’s past and present. Once way, the most obvious, is scouring the web for customer reviews. Although, most sites work to maintain honest customer feedback, some sites may include false claims or angry customer rants. But if 100 people say the same thing about the company, it’s probably true.
People love sharing their opinions. In the case indulge them. Check with your neighbors and see what they think about the different cable providers in your area. You don’t find out the service is bad after you’re under contract.
Don’t get suckered by the packages
The first step in narrowing down a provider is researching your available options. If you live in an area where there are less than two competing providers, you may want to consider satellite television providers. Their packages and prices are often comparable to those offered through cable TV. Yet, don’t overlook any company’s quality of service, rather cable or satellite, for extended or premium channels. The last thing you want is to pay for services you can watch.
Don’t get confused by promotions
Once you know your options, it’s time to shop. While every company will be vying for your business. Keep things in perspective. Compare promotions, prices, and features. This part you don’t have to do alone. Allconnect.com allows you to select the preferences you want, then provides recommendations.
When it comes to packages, most cable TV providers offer programming on a tiered-package basis. For example, a basic package may include 40 channels for x amount of dollars and so on. For exact pricing, visit the cable provider websites and/or call them. This is also a chance to examine their customer service, but considering you’re interested in buying, they’ll answer the phone quickly. Ask them about any promotions available in your area but remember promotions are temporary and the original price could be 2-3 times more in monthly cost.
In some cases, one provider may offer a particular channel you want, while another provider may not. If that channel is important to you, then you may be able to save some money by choosing the provider that lumps it into a more affordable package. Also, keep in mind that you get what you pay for.
To bundle or not to bundle?
Although price and channels are important, they alone shouldn’t be the determinant of which provider to choose. Bundling options and service features should also be compared. Many cable providers offer discounted, one-stop shop bundled packages of services including cable, Internet, and phone services. Should you need those services bundling may be the way to go, but it may not be the cheapest route. What service features do you need? high-definition channels, multi-room cable boxes, a digital video recorder. These additions maybe an extra cost with some providers. In the end, don’t just accept a cable deal without knowing all the details.
As always be smart, be savvy, and be well equip.
